Productivity Development Group

History

Productivity Development Group, Inc., (PDG) Westford MA, was founded in 1981 by Dr. Martin F. Stankard. The company commenced operations in 1982 as a highly focused consulting and management training firm specializing in productivity and quality improvement for service businesses and the service side of manufacturing.

Prior to forming PDG, Dr. Stankard was on the senior operations research staff of a major consulting firm from 1969 to 1981. Dr. Stankard was an innovator in bringing the methods of operations research, statistical process control, and systems analysis to complex, labor-intensive service workflows in credit card, retailing, government operations, and insurance firms.

Broadening Our Focus

PDG’s management consulting practice originated in leading cross-functional teams of client personnel in using systems analysis and problem solving to raise process productivity and customer satisfaction (now called process re-engineering). Over the years, PDG has broadened its focus beyond process improvement to consider productivity and quality as company-wide strategic issues. The overall performance of an enterprise requires systematic, integrated management approaches. PDG’s consulting services stress management systems that meet high performance requirements set forth in the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award criteria for performance excellence.
